Why Purple Corn Is Good for You: History and Health Benefits in a Can
Hi. My name is Marcel. I’m one of the Co-Founders here at Kulli. When Dimos and I — the other half of Kulli — came together to create something different, we had to ask ourselves: are we going to lean into the fear of the unknown or stick with something comfortable? Most companies choose tradition, familiarity. There’s nothing wrong with comfort. But for us, we were thirsty for something different.
If you’ve never heard of purple corn, then get ready to meet your new favorite ingredient. This isn't your average corn-on-the-cob situation. It’s ancient, vibrant, powerhouse purple corn — and it’s been turning heads (and drinks) for centuries.
Let’s take it back. Way back…
Purple corn has been cultivated in the Andes Mountains of Peru for thousands of years. Our Incan ancestors knew they were onto something special when they began harvesting this deep violet maize, rich in color, flavor, and story. Historically, it wasn’t just food — it was medicine. They brewed it into “chicha morada,” a beloved drink that’s been passed down through generations. My grandma’s twist on the recipe is the heart of Kulli’s original flavor.
But this isn’t just about heritage — it’s about health. Purple corn is packed with anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants that help fight inflammation, support heart health, and may even boost longevity. We like to say it’s nature’s way of putting superpowers in your sip.
Our mission is simple: we’re on a journey to make the most joyfully functional drink you’ve ever had. A beverage that tastes incredible, makes you feel good, and connects you to something bigger than just hydration. We call it a "good-for-everybody" drink. From children to adults, Kulli is a tasty celebration that everyone can enjoy. My own two-and-a-half-year-old son is already finding clever ways to get his hands on Kulli. And adults enjoy the drink as is — or, in some cases, they add their own twist with a splash of alcohol. (Exciting news to share soon!)
I promise you this — we’re not here to sell you on trends. We’re here to share our legacy and make it delicious. As cliché as it sounds, here at Kulli, we’re not just brewing beverages — we’re bottling something new in every sip.
Next time you reach for something to sip, Purple Up!
With heart,
The Kulli Team.
